Pregnancy Update – 28 weeks <3

“By this week, your baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels.

She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She’s also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.”

Weeks Pregnant: 28

Baby Size: An aubergine

Gender: Everyone is CONVINCED this baby is a boy! I even had a lady come up to me in the park last week and comment it was a boy because of how I’m ‘carrying.’ She’s still a little girl to me though, but I guess I’m prepared to be proven wrong 🙂

Weight gain so far:
18lbs! December came and went, with weight gain going pretty much as predicted. I ate more than my weight in chocolate for sure! New Year, new me, blah blah blah ;). Needless to say I’m back on my healthy eating plan now.
Maternity clothes: The maternity jeans I bought at the beginning of last month have definitely had their wear! They are so comfortable and it’s so nice to not just wear leggings all the time, although they still get their wear’s worth too.
Stretch marks: Still none yet, moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.
Movement: Hubby can finally feel her, and my tummy properly wobbles when she’s having a good wriggle (something Ava loves! She does some pretty hilarious impressions of what the baby is getting up to inside). The higher up she’s getting is also taking some getting used to, I keep trying to eat the usual amount but keeping nearly making myself sick by doing so, everything feels pretty squished right now. It’s also amazing me how much she gets around, sometimes it feels like she has a foot under my hip and one under my ribs at the same time.

Cravings: Cravings are definitely not playing a big roll at the moment, unless you count chocolate and ice cream ;).

Lusting after: Cutting out sugar since New Years has been a bit of a shock to the system, but my body is slowly adjusting, after the amount of goodies I ate over the Christmas period those first few days were a little shaky :).

Sleep: Nothing new here apart from lower back ache in the mornings, I think I fall to sleep on my side but roll onto by back in the night which is causing the pain when I wake up. Also Ava has decided to start waking up umpteen times a night for no reason so we’re both pretty sleep deprived at the moment.

Mood: So glad to be into the third and final trimester! It feels like I am at least on the home straight now. Although it has highlighted how much I should probably have organised by this point and haven’t; with Ava’s birthday in a few weeks I’m thinking I’ll knuckle down afterwards and start organising everything for babykins then.

Exercise: Exercise is pretty much back to normal again. After a lazy Christmas and a guilty New Year it forced me back to the gym and things seem to be back on track. I’ve been doing less and less classes and just getting a gym session in when I have time, running mostly among other cardio with a little weight training.

Birth Plan: I start my bi-weekly appointments with the midwife tomorrow leading up to my due date to check everything is ok for us to go ahead and have this munchkin at home. It’s all been straightforward so far, so I feel pretty confident it’s all going to go to plan.

Highlight: My highlight this last few week was obviously Christmas! The day itself was so much fun and I absolutely loved it with Ava this year. It made such a difference her being more aware of what was going on, the lead up was so much more exciting. Hubby also had a few days off work which made the holidays so much more of a treat for us girls!
